We know how stressful life can be. One of the worst things to come home to or wake up to is a home without heat. This can be potentially dangerous to the people in your home and it can cause your pipes to freeze.

Don’t panic because you can try the tips below or if that doesn’t work, there is someone from Apollo Heating and Air Conditioning that can help 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We suggest trying the items on this list to see if you can fix the problem yourself because sometimes it can be as simple as changing the battery in your thermostat or making sure your furnace has power.

Furnace Troubleshooting Tips

1. Is there power to the furnace? Check the switch on the furnace and your circuit breaker or fuse. Also, check the door panel to the blower compartment. If that is not properly closed, the safety switch may not allow the furnace to come on.
2. Is the thermostat turned to “heat” and set to a temperature above the present room temperature? Change the battery if the thermostat is not on.
3. Is the furnace filter clogged, thereby starving the furnace for air? Change your filter.
4. Has the gas valve been turned off?
5. If you have LP gas, is that tank empty?
6. If you have a 90 percent, high-efficiency furnace, is something plugging the air intake or the exhaust?
7. Check your pilot light. Use your instructions in your owner’s manual on how to relight the pilot.
8. If these tips aren’t helping, call in a professional.

Remember our “no heat” emergency service is available 24 hours a day. All you need to do is call Apollo at 651.770.0603.

In the future, make sure to have someone come out twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring, to check your furnace and air conditioner. The Technician will do a safety check and will let you know about any potential problems for the season ahead.
