Heat pumps are efficient devices which can be successfully fitted at home. The main advantage of heat pumps is that they provide more heat and consume less electricity. Various types of air conditioners are used at home including the air to air system, geothermal heat pump and water source. These are not only used for heating but also functions as central air conditioning device as it converts the warm heat into cooler air during warm temperatures. Therefore different types of heat pumps can be installed within the home according to the requirements of the buyer. The heat pumps can be easily installed in the home if one follows some easy steps to ensure that it placed successfully without causing any damage to any of its parts. It is important to use the right kind of material and that right kind of ductwork to ensure the pumps successful operation.
One must install the outside part of the pump a few inches away from the wall of the house. The air vents must have enough space to have air access and therefore must be at a several inches distance from the wall to ensure the ventilations of air through the heat pump. One must ensure that there is proper clearance for ventilation as, if there is not it will cause in a disastrous fire due to the lack of air flow. One must ensure that combustible materials are not used for the pump.
One has to make place for the heat pump outside the house. One must have a slab of concrete to place it on, and once the pump is placed, the surroundings must be covered with gravel. Isolations are important as the vibrations will not enter the house when the pump operates. Otherwise a 3 ton heat pump can bring havoc in the ceiling once it begins to operate on its full power. One must mount two handlers inside the home. It is preferable that the distance should be less than 15 feet and if not than the filter wires must not be too high. Moreover, one must ensure proper insulation surround the tubing by 1 and a half inch. Experts are of view that any power run equipment is only as good and as safe as its insulation.
Placing on The rooftop:
Sometimes, anchoring is required on a roof top to support the heat pump. Isolators are used as tools for anchoring the pump with the roof. It is important to ensure that the roof curb is at level and can support the pump.
One must use the copper tube to connect the inside unit with the outside. The valve cap on the pump must also be inserted with the copper tubing and once one is done the valve cap must be tightly closed and sealed.
The copper tubing must always be kept in the indoor unit. This is to make sure that the tubing remains dry and protected. The coil must also never be left uncovered to ensure that there is no exposure to mixture.
